HOUSE LEAGUE PLUS

Burlington Youth Soccer Club launched its House League Plus (HL+) Program in the summer of 2017. The BYSC offers House League Plus as an option for age groups U7 to U14. This exciting program offers our house league players the opportunity to participate in one scheduled game PLUS one scheduled training session per week.

HL+ players will play their house league games with their assigned volunteer coach, whilst the training sessions will be run by a paid certified soccer coach following a BYSC designed curriculum.

All games and training sessions are designed and delivered in compliance with the LTPD Recreational Matrix issued by the Ontario Soccer Association.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Would the house league players only be playing against other house league teams or would they play against House League+ teams? I'm worried about an unfair advantage and a discouraging season.

There will be no "House League+" only teams, all players will be rostered as per previous years (based on previous years grading). There may be some teams with more HL+ players than others, but this would occur randomly as House League+ training is optional and open to all levels of players. HL+ is an individual skill development program, not a team training program.

What will be covered by the House League plus training curriculum?

The curriculum will cover a range of topics relevant to the game of soccer. It is hoped that everyone who undertakes this option will develop all areas of their game, specifically their abilities to strike a ball, their control over the ball and how they manipulate it, their decision making, and their physical competency with and without the ball.

My child only wants to play games, is that ok?

Of course, the HL+ program is simply an added option to train and develop the player's individual skills, it is not a requirement of joining the House League program

I see a practice session on Saturday and Sunday for my age group, which one applies to me?

Upon registration, you will be asked which day you would like to sign up for. There are limited spots in each of the practice time slots, which will be allotted on a first come, first served basis.
